Press Release 21/06/2014
On Tuesday 24th of June at 10.00am in the Ennis Courtroom, Co. Clare, Margaretta D'Arcy will be put on trial by the Irish State for protesting against Ireland's participation in the imperial wars by the USA by allowing
US troops use Shannon Airport.
Roger Cole, Chair of PANA said:
" The destruction of the policy of Irish neutrality by allowing US troops use Shannon Airport must come to an end.
PANA played a key role in organising opposition to these wars, especially on February 15, 2003 against the war on Iraq, the consequences of which are still causing havoc and destruction throughout the Middle East.
Margaretta's opposition to these wars and Ireland's active participation in them needs to be supported. As we approach the 100th anniversary of the Imperialist 1914-18 war, the outcome of which played a key role in the origin of the crisis in the Middle East we as a country need to restore the values of Irish Independence, Democracy and Neutrality as advocated by the leaders of the 1916 Rising"
